INVASION!!!!!! The Allies Hang onto France by a Thread!!!

SHEAF reports that Allied forces have made some headway into occupied France but have not met with the level of success expected by Allied planners.  All three airborne missions are successful, but the 101st is in a serious situation.  German resistance there has been far more extensive than assumed, and the "Screaming Eagles" are holding on but are having serious supply issues. With the exception of Utah Beach, and Point du Hoc, all Allied beach landings were a failure, leaving the British paratroopers in Merville stranded and cut off from supplies and re enforcements.

OKW chiefs are also concerned that as things stand the Cherbourg Peninsula is in danger of being cut off, trapping Axis troops in the northwest.  Spirits remain high as forces continue to move coastward in spite of near continuous Allied bombing and strafing.
